I've always been a bit of a product junkie when it comes to makeup, skincare, etc. About 6 years ago I read a book called "The Green Beauty Guide" that rocked my world. Thanks to sites like EWG's Skin Deep, awareness about the unregulated cosmetics industry has increased, and more and more consumers are saying no to conventional products and yes to more natural approaches.
The exciting thing about taking a more natural approach to skincare is that it can be a LOT cheaper. No, I'm not talking about pricey organic products, though those can be fun to splurge on sometimes. I'm taking about making your own! I am not the world's most crafty human (AT ALL), but I can get excited about an easy DIY recipe if it means at the end of it I'm left with something that I can use every day. Here is the recipe I've been using for the past 8 or 9 months as a toner. It's cheap, easy, and so effective!
ACV Geranium Toner
Ingredients:
1 glass bottle with spray top
Equal parts purified water and Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
5 drops of Young Living Geranium Essential Oil
3 drops of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil
Mix together in the bottle, shake well, and store in a dry place.
To use, spritz a few times on a cotton pad and wipe over your face after cleansing. I usually go through 2 cotton pads (both sides) until all the makeup is gone.
Apple cider vinegar is an incredible thing to have in your beauty arsenal. In this toner, it helps balance the skin's ph, sloughs off dead skin cells, and is an incredible detoxifier. I also love using it as a clarifying treatment on my hair, and I mix it with my favorite clay mask for an intensive skin detox. Now, the smell of pure ACV is very strong, and my hubby and band guys (when I wash my face on the bus) are not fans, but I found that when mixed with essential oils, the smell is easier to handle.

Lavender essential oil is one of my all-time favorites, and I love it in this toner.
***The only oils I recommend are the ones my family and I use daily: Young Living pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
Essential oils have been a mainstay in my family, and I'm excited to have a space to share some of our stories with you about how oils have supported our family. What I love most about essential oils is that they come from plants, trees, and living things that God created. He gave us everything we needed for health and healing right in His creation, and there is something so comforting about that to me. It's like an earthly father who hides easter eggs around the backyard and tells his kids to go find them, with a big smile on his face.
I don't know...that's just the way I like to think about it! :)
I will do an in-depth post about these wonderful oils soon, but to learn more, or to sign up to receive a wholesale discount now, go to youngliving.com and sign up using my sponsor and enroller number: 1417446
Until next time, dear ones!

ReplyDeleteDear Francesca,
ReplyDeleteI think it is amazing that you can find God in all of the little things. I turned 16 in December and like most teenage girls I am very self aware of my flaws. Before November When I found your music I was very lost. I didn't really think God still loved me and long before that I was begging the question of why did God skip me? He took His time to make every other girl beautiful in her own body but He skipped me. I spent a lot of time at school and doing homework and I still do but back then I didn't really make time for church. Now I do but then I was always too tired or too busy to get up and get dressed and go. I think that when I stumbled upon your music it was God blessing me now because I find that when I feel alone that I'm not anymore. I used to break down and listen to myself telling me things that hurt me and still do on occasion but it's easier now for me to block it out and to accept myself for what I am. I know God hears me. I know He listens and I know I'm not alone. I listened to your music and it was restoring to my faith. When I really got to think about it it was like being born again because I could make myself trust and believe in God again. It's still hard for me to accept myself but through your music I can see that I don't have to be accepted by everyone too, just God, so now it's a lot easier for me to take myself for what I am and to know that I'm loved and I am not alone. I now am blessed with someone who understands my personality and me in general, his name is Nick. He invites me to church and I think that was God working too. He really doesn't sleep. I am blessed to know your music and was equally blessed to see you at winterjam on Valentines day. Your song He Knows My Name and the speech prior brought me to teats of joy because I found myself able to believe it and to sing with passion and pride because I know He knows me. I was blessed by God himself to find your music because it saved me from myself many times and it brought me back to my Savior. I' truly ever thankful and overjoyed to be able to tell you this and to be able to thank you for what your music has given to me in spirit and happiness.
Thank you for all you have done indirectly and for God in making my life something I can see as being beautiful.

Wow wow wow! God's Father heart to us is so good! Blessings, girl! xo
DeleteIt's so cool that you actually reply to your fans. You set an example of kindness that we all should remember and I am so happy God puts kind people like you on earth for people like me to learn from. Stay blessed! :)
DeleteMadison, this is beautifully written! You could be such an encouragement for girls your age. May God continue to bless you :)
DeleteI'm excited to try this toner! I actually just signed up to be a member on Young Living after reading your post and checking out all the resources on their site. I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts about EO. I hope you've had a great weekend! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteawesome!! let me know if i can help you at all with YL stuff! You're going to love them :)
DeleteEqual parts vinegar & water equal how much of each?
ReplyDeletedepends on the size of your bottle. if its a 2 oz bottle, do an ounce of each. If its a 4 oz bottle, do two ounces of each. Basically, just fill the bottle halfway with ACV and then the rest of the way with pure water, then drop in the essential oils! xo!
DeleteReady to read more 👍
ReplyDelete:)

ReplyDeleteLOVE that you are talking about YL on here! After 10 years of debilitating PCOS (and a slew of medications), my hormones are completely balanced; my depression and anxiety are so diminished, I can't even tell you the last time I had a "bad day." My husband and I are so impressed with the results that we are definitely never going back!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! Stories like yours are so incredible! Praise God!
DeleteI'm so excited that you have a blog! I love your music. About 3 years ago I was on my way to work and was having a terrible day. Everything that could go wrong, did... I was headed home and I heard "this is the stuff". My heart jumped for joy! It made me learn to not sweat the small stuff God loves me. My daughter is 6 and she loves to sing to your songs in the car. She is super excited to be seeing you in concert in July. It will be her first concert :). On another note, I'm not very crafty, but love essential oils. I'm super excited to try this new toner! I'm going to order the oils!! Looking forward to your future blogs!
ReplyDeleteCan I use rose instead of lavender?
